A busy scene with engines being prepared for work. |
WELCOMEWelcome to the Homepage of the Mid Wales Model Engineering Society
The club was formed in
1984 to promote and encourage Engineering in all its various forms
within the area surrounding Newtown
in the former county of Montgomeryshire.
The society maintains and
operates its own miniature railway in Back Lane Park,
under licence
from Powys County Council.
The railway is open to the public on running days and we are always delighted to welcome intending passengers of all ages. There are facilities for 5" and 7 1/4" gauge locomotives and visiting engines are most welcome. Generally, the railway operates on Saturdays from about April onwards. Further details of running dates can normally be seen on the news page. You can download a copy of our prospectus here. The club is affiliated to the Northern Association of Model Engineers and operates their code of practice with regard to locomotive boiler testing. You can see the Newtown Track in action in the embedded video by Colin Head which we have included below. |
Please note that hyperlinks included in the text throughout this site are intended for the benefit and information of our visitors. We try to include links that will be helpful for intending passengers on our railway and for model engineers. They do not constitute an endorsement or recommendation on our part. |
